Trump placed in third-tier

Seating arrangements for Pope Francis’ funeral have been disclosed, placing President Trump in a ‘third-tier’ row

Trump placed in third-tier: According to Vatican protocol, U.S. President Donald Trump will not receive a front-row seat at Pope Francis’ funeral.

World leaders are set to arrive in Rome on Saturday to join tens of thousands of mourners at the Pontiff’s meticulously planned funeral. Despite being among the first to confirm his attendance, Trump is expected to be placed in the third-tier row of dignitaries.

Foreign leaders will be seated on one side of Francis’ coffin, while archbishops, bishops, patriarchs, and cardinals will occupy seats opposite. However, it is believed that Trump may not even be placed in the second row upon his arrival at St. Peter’s Basilica.

Delegations from approximately 130 countries—including 50 heads of state and 10 reigning monarchs—are expected to attend the funeral, following Pope Francis’ passing on Monday.

Commenting on his expected seating position, Trump remarked, “However, a good time for our president to get to know the leaders of certain Third World countries.” He went on to say that the situation would have been different under his presidency, adding, “If I were president, they wouldn’t have sat me back there – and our Country would be much different than it is right now.”

He concluded, “In real estate, like in politics and in life, location is everything.” The funeral is expected to be the largest gathering of global leaders since Trump’s January inauguration.

Catherine Pepinster, former editor of The Tablet and a commentator on Catholic affairs, noted that such seating arrangements could lead to diplomatic tensions. Speaking to The Telegraph, she said, “One of the interesting aspects of a ceremony such as this is that the Holy See has diplomatic relations with countries such as Russia and Iran, which may mean that world leaders who would not usually meet, would encounter one another in Rome, either the night before the funeral or at the actual ceremony.”
