Super Eagles camp issue: Former Super Eagles forward John Utaka has weighed in on the recent news of Ahmed Musa’s abrupt exit from the national team camp to marry his new wife.
Musa departed the camp following Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana in the Unity Cup held in London. Fans were surprised to learn that the veteran striker had returned to Kano to wed his fourth wife, Asmau Moriki.
Speaking on Brila FM, Utaka emphasized the importance of protocol when it comes to national duties. “We don’t know what discussions were held before Musa went to camp. It’s a national duty — things have to be done correctly,” he stated.

The match against Ghana marked Musa’s first appearance for Nigeria since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he featured as a second-half substitute.
Musa’s marriage to Asmau Moriki is his fourth. He first married Jamila in 2013, and the couple had two children before divorcing in 2017, reportedly due to conflicts over his intent to take a second wife. He then married Juliet Ejue from Cross River State, though their separation was never officially dated. In 2021, he took Mariam as his third wife.
