Suicide Incident in Abia: A 32-year-old man, Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu, has reportedly taken his own life along the Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Nwosu, a native of Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in the same local government area, allegedly parked his car by the roadside on the morning of Thursday, April 17, 2025, before using his belt to hang himself on a nearby fence.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to ABN TV said his body was discovered hanging, causing shock among residents and passersby who quickly notified the authorities.
The spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident to journalists.
“Yes, the incident occurred. One Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA was found hanging on a fence along Olokoro-Umudike Road,” she stated.
She added that detectives from the Ubakala Division arrived at the scene promptly, and the body was taken to Madonna Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
“There were no signs of violence on the body. Photographs were taken at the scene, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing,” DSP Chinaka said.
The reason for the suspected suicide remains unclear as investigations continue.
