Solicitor General’s Appeal Succeeds: Ismail Uradde, a 36-year-old man from East Ham, London, has had his sentence more than doubled after an intervention by the Solicitor General, Lucy Rigby KC MP, under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
The Incident
The incident occurred on July 26, 2024, in the early morning hours, when Uradde confronted two men outside his block of flats. He accused them of making a disturbance and brandished a knife, proceeding to attack the men. One victim was stabbed twice in the left thigh, while the other suffered a deep wound to the arm.
– Victim Impact: The victims suffered significant blood loss but survived the attack. One of the victims reported difficulty sleeping and feeling unsafe outside due to fear of being attacked again.

Original Sentence and Appeal
Uradde was initially sentenced to three years and eight months’ imprisonment on January 20, 2025, for two counts of wounding with intent and one count of having a bladed article. However, the Solicitor General referred the sentence to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme.
– Increased Sentence: On April 15, 2025, the Court of Appeal increased Uradde’s sentence to a decade, more than doubling the original sentence.
Solicitor General’s Reaction
The Solicitor General, Lucy Rigby KC MP, welcomed the Court of Appeal’s decision, stating that Uradde’s violent and unprovoked attack was shocking. She expressed her thoughts with the two victims of Uradde’s attack.
