Korolev, who passed away in 1966, was instrumental in designing satellites and rockets for the Soviet Union and oversaw the historic first human spaceflight by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961. Putin highlighted the parallels between Korolev’s achievements and Musk’s endeavors, stating, “Just like in their time, the ideas of Korolev and our other pioneers got to materialize. They seemed incredible, some of the plans they made. But they all materialized.”

Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned that his country might seek alternative satellite internet providers if SpaceX proves unreliable. Musk reassured that Starlink terminals would remain operational despite disagreements over Ukraine policy. Initially, Musk supported Ukraine, delivering Starlink terminals and even issuing a bold challenge to Putin. Yet, his stance evolved over time, with Musk proposing a peace plan that involved Ukraine recognizing Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
