Russia denies Chinese recruitment

Russia has rejected claims that it is recruiting Chinese nationals to support its war efforts in Ukraine

Russia denies Chinese recruitment: Russia has strongly rejected recent Ukrainian claims that Chinese nationals are fighting alongside Russian forces in the ongoing conflict.

In an interview with TASS News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko dismissed the allegations as completely false.

“I can confidently say that nothing could be further from the truth, to put it mildly,” Rudenko stated on Saturday.

He also highlighted the strong diplomatic relationship between Russia and China, adding, “China’s position on the situation in Ukraine is very balanced, and we appreciate our friends for that.”

Still on Russia denies Chinese recruitment:

This response comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement earlier in the week, in which he claimed that Ukrainian forces had captured several individuals with ties to China. Zelenskyy asserted that 155 individuals with Chinese names and passport details were identified among the detainees.

In response, China’s Foreign Ministry reiterated its neutral stance, emphasizing that Beijing is not involved in the conflict and had previously warned Chinese citizens against engaging in any military activities abroad.

The United States has also weighed in on the issue. National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes stated that Washington is closely monitoring the situation.

“China’s support, if confirmed, would be a concerning escalation,” Hughes remarked.

The allegations come as the Russia-Ukraine war, now in its third year, continues to attract global attention regarding the involvement of international actors.

“There will be serious consequences if Nigeria continues to neglect the South-East,” Joe Igbokwe warns.
