E-Money breaks silence: Popular businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has spoken out following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged abuse of the Naira and foreign currency.
E-Money was reportedly apprehended at his Lagos residence and flown to Abuja for questioning after videos surfaced online showing him spraying money at public events—a violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency regulations. He was later released the same day.

“Attention! The EFCC reminds us: Spraying Naira (or any currency) at parties/events is against the law! Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!”

He further advised:
“If you must give money at a party, make sure you put it in a basket or in a bowl or container in front of the person… Ignorance is not going to be an excuse.”
The post sparked mixed reactions online—while some praised his calm and respectful response, others criticized the EFCC for what they described as selective enforcement of the law.
E-Money’s arrest adds to a growing list of public figures who have faced scrutiny over flamboyant displays of cash at social events.
