Political unity against Tinubu: A former spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council during the 2023 elections has stated that no single individual, regardless of who they are, can defeat President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The actor-turned-politician made this remark during an appearance on Channels TV on Sunday, April 27.
“Nelson Mandela once said that it always seems impossible until it’s done. I cannot guarantee an alliance between Peter Obi and Atiku, but as we approach 2027, I am confident that there will be a coalition. Whether it will be between Peter Obi and Atiku, I cannot say. However, there will be a coalition because that would be the only way for the opposition to make an impact,” he said.

When asked if Tinubu could be defeated without a coalition against him, Okonkwo responded affirmatively, saying “outrightly,” and adding that “he would just walk into it.”
“No single candidate can defeat Tinubu alone… and here’s why: In Nigeria, we have unfortunately reached a point where winning is not enough—you must also secure your victory. Even if the people vote for you, you still need the support of the elites to secure that victory,” he explained.
“If the elites unite, as they did in 2014 to challenge Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, they will be able to unseat Tinubu in 2027,” he added.
