Out of induced coma: Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is now out of an induced coma and recovering well after undergoing emergency surgery for a serious abdominal injury.
According to LIB, the Nottingham Forest forward was in intensive care on Wednesday, May 14, following a complex surgical procedure.
Still on Out of induced coma
Mail Online reports that the operation went ahead as planned, and Awoniyi is currently under observation in the hospital. He is said to be awake and surrounded by family.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury after colliding with a post during Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Leicester. Despite receiving several minutes of treatment, he briefly returned to the pitch before eventually being substituted. He was later rushed to the hospital on Monday when the severity of the injury became clear.
Awoniyi couldn’t be taken off earlier as Forest had already used their final substitution to replace Elliot Anderson with Jota Silva. In a dramatic turn, he attempted to continue playing, though visibly struggling to move properly, as the team pushed for a late goal to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Max is reverting to its original name, HBO Max, in a rebranding move announced on May 14, 2025.
