No shame in retiring: Former BBNaija star and media personality, Tolani Baj, has stirred conversation in the music industry after delivering a bold message to veteran musicians still competing in today’s scene.
According to her, there’s no shame in retiring or evolving.
TBaj questioned why many OG artists struggle with recognizing when it’s time to transition, emphasizing that growth doesn’t always mean chasing hits. Instead, she suggested that moving into areas like business, mentorship, or executive leadership can be equally impactful.
In her words:
“If your sound no longer resonates with your fans or your sound is outdated, then go into business.”
Still on No shame in retiring
She commended industry legends like Olamide and Don Jazzy for setting strong examples, saying, “Olamide and Don Jazzy are perfect examples of who OG artists should embody.” Both have evolved into music executives who nurture new talents and lead the next generation.
TBaj also criticized the quality of music some older artists are releasing today, questioning why musicians with impressive past catalogues would let fan pressure push them into dropping music that tarnishes their legacy.
She added, “There is no shame in retiring. Stop dropping nonsense music to water down your brand, especially if your catalogue in the past is A1.”
