May 1st Workers’ Day: The Federal Government has announced Thursday, May 1, as a public holiday in observance of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister emphasized the importance of peace in fostering industrialization and driving economic progress.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo applauded Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifice, stating that their contributions significantly enhance the nation’s greatness and global standing.
The Minister remarked, “There is dignity in labour; our commitment and dedication to work are essential to building the nation.” He encouraged workers to embrace a culture of innovation and productivity.

He further urged workers to elevate their professional standards in order to enhance governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit fully from the country’s resources.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured the public that the current administration is strongly committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and foreign nationals residing in Nigeria.
Concluding his remarks, the Minister extended his best wishes for a joyful celebration and encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
