Man’s disturbing court sentence: A man, deemed a “s3x pest,” has been banned from having a girlfriend without informing social workers after a perverted act involving his 65-year-old neighbor.
Andrew Thomas, 49, was caught secretly recording his neighbor changing in her bedroom by setting up an iPhone hidden inside a vase of artificial flowers at her home near Pitlochry, Scotland. Over several months, he filmed her in various states of undress.

The victim discovered the hidden phone while rearranging the artificial flowers, uncovering more than 40 hours of intimate footage. Thomas was later caught sneaking around inside the property by the woman’s daughter and her partner. Upon confession, Thomas admitted to having romantic feelings for the victim.
Sheriff Alison McKay sentenced Thomas to five years on the S3x Offenders Register and ordered him to complete 300 hours of unpaid community work.
During the court proceedings, fiscal depute Rachel Hill explained that the woman, who lived alone, found the phone on July 29, 2023, while adjusting the artificial flowers at the foot of her bed. The device had recorded 40 hours and 45 minutes of footage, including intimate images of the woman, which were discovered by her daughter. The woman had considered Thomas a friend, often socializing with him over coffee, drinks, and walks.
Thomas’ defense lawyer, Linda Clark, argued that Thomas had misinterpreted their friendship and thought it could evolve into something more. However, she acknowledged this did not excuse his actions.
The sheriff, noting the severity of the offense, imposed a strict 12-clause conduct order, including restrictions on Thomas’ phone and internet use, a ban on approaching the victim, and prohibitions on forming new relationships or friendships.
