Liverpool bid Bayer Leverkusen: Liverpool have submitted a bid close to £110 million to sign German midfielder Florian Wirtz.
The Premier League champions have been strongly linked with the Bayer Leverkusen star after Bayern Munich and Manchester City withdrew from the race to acquire him this summer.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot reportedly impressed Wirtz during a meeting earlier this month, convincing him that Liverpool, with its passionate fanbase, is the perfect destination.
The Dutch manager also promised Wirtz a key role in his attacking setup and clearly outlined his responsibilities, according to Bild.
However, Bayer Leverkusen are said to be holding out for a fee around £126 million for the player who has dazzled German and European football over the past two seasons.
Sporting director Richard Hughes is leading the negotiations to secure the 22-year-old German international.

Last season, Wirtz scored 18 goals and provided 20 assists, announcing himself on the international stage, and he has followed that up this campaign with 16 goals and 15 assists. At just 22, he has already earned 29 caps for Germany.
A deal for Wirtz would break the club record set by Darwin Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 for £85 million.
