Incentive To Leave U.S

Trump Proposes $1,000 Incentive for Undocumented Immigrants to Voluntarily Leave the U.S.

Incentive To Leave U.S: The Trump administration has launched a new initiative offering \$1,000 in financial aid and travel assistance to undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In a statement, DHS characterized self-deportation as “the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest,” and noted that the program is accessible via the CBP One mobile app.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering financial travel assistance and a stipend to support voluntary return through the CBP Home App,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Immigration enforcement remains a central issue in Donald Trump’s presidency and re-election efforts. However, officials have acknowledged the high cost of deportation, estimating it at roughly \$17,000 per individual.

DHS highlighted that the stipend-based program is significantly more affordable. It has already been used by at least one individual who returned to Honduras from Chicago. Additional return flights are planned in the coming weeks.

Since Trump’s return to office on January 20, approximately 152,000 undocumented immigrants have been deported — a figure lower than the 195,000 deportations recorded between February and April of the previous year under the Biden administration.
