I’m staying in the PDP, but a coalition will take on the APC and rebuild the nation – Atiku

PDP Coalition For Change: Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has dismissed speculations about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP and his commitment to forming a coalition to dislodge the ruling party in 2027.

Speaking during a meeting with female members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Atiku stressed the importance of building a broad coalition capable of confronting the APC and driving national renewal.

He clarified that the coalition effort goes beyond political maneuvering and is a crucial step towards rescuing the nation. Drawing on history, he referenced the alliance between the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and the Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP) during the Second Republic—known as the NPN-NPP accord—as evidence of the strength and potential of political coalitions.

Atiku assured that the formation of this coalition would not compromise the PDP’s structure or identity. He noted that the emerging pan-Nigerian movement includes voices from various political affiliations and regions, all united in their mission to reclaim the country.

“The coalition movement is not just a political strategy, but a necessity to challenge the ruling party and rebuild the country,” Atiku stated, reaffirming to the PDP women that he has no intention of leaving the party.

The Federal Government has expressed its disapproval following the creation of a shadow government by Pat Utomi.
