Veteran Actor Explains Decision: Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has opened up about his challenges behind the scenes in the film industry, revealing why he rarely takes on the role of producer.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo, the renowned Yoruba actor candidly admitted that producing isn’t his strong suit — primarily due to financial management issues.
“I’m not good at producing. I’ve never been a good producer. A good producer must know how to manage money, and I don’t know how to do that,” he stated.
Odule explained that while acting comes naturally to him, producing demands a different skill set — one that requires strategic planning and financial discipline, which he admits he lacks.

He revealed he has produced about 10 films in the past but isn’t even sure if they turned a profit or where their master copies are currently located.
“If you ask me about the master copies of those films today, I honestly don’t know where they are. That’s another sign that I’m not a good producer,” he added.
Nonetheless, he hasn’t completely ruled out producing in the future. He expressed openness to creating films for platforms like Netflix or cinema if the opportunity arises.
In a surprising revelation, Odule also shared that he had been blacklisted from acting for two years — not due to any scandal, but possibly because he was seen as a threat.
“I have been blacklisted from acting for two years. I feel it happened because I was becoming a threat, and they tried to deal with me by blackmailing me,” he revealed.
Though he didn’t mention specific names, Odule suggested that internal politics and his outspoken nature might have contributed to his sidelining within the industry.
