Actress Vinessa Shaw, best known for her role in the 1993 cult favorite Hocus Pocus, is heading toward divorce after nearly ten years of marriage.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Shaw’s husband, Kristopher Gifford, filed for divorce on Thursday, May 22, citing irreconcilable differences.
The filing states their separation date as October 24, 2023, showing the couple has been living apart for over a year and a half. Gifford is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 7-year-old son, Jack, and has not requested spousal support.
Shaw and Gifford married in 2017 after being together for nearly ten years. They started dating in 2007 and got engaged in 2008.
Although Shaw did not appear in the 2022 sequel, her role as Allison Watts—the love interest of Max Dennison—in the original Hocus Pocus remains one of her most recognized performances. Her other credits include The Hills Have Eyes (2006), 3:10 to Yuma, Eyes Wide Shut, and Ladybugs.
Shaw’s representatives have yet to respond to requests for comment on the divorce.
