One-party system: If this is the choice of Nigerians, then so be it – Ganduje

Ganduje Comments On Democracy:  The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has downplayed concerns raised by some opposition members about Nigeria potentially turning into a one-party state.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, May 9, Ganduje stated that the APC has no issue with dominating the political landscape if it reflects the will of the Nigerian people.

Ganduje, who brought three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators that had defected to the APC to meet the President, said:

“Some leaders are concerned about a one-party state… But if a one-party state is Nigeria’s wish and a blessing to the nation, then so be it. Such a shift isn’t by force; it happens through negotiations and as a result of other political parties recognizing the benefits of our party’s good governance. If they choose to join us voluntarily, there’s nothing wrong with that.

China is one of the strongest nations in the world, and it operates under a one-party system. We’re not actively pursuing a one-party structure, but if that’s what Nigerians want, we have no objections. As the saying goes, too many cooks spoil the broth—likewise, too many political parties can hinder effective governance.”

Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
