Foreign national CBEX fraud: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared 41-year-old Elie Bitar, a foreign national, wanted in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud allegedly carried out through the online trading platform Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).
According to the EFCC, Bitar is wanted for his suspected involvement in a scheme that used the CBEX platform to defraud investors across Nigeria.
A statement from the commission reads: “The public is hereby notified that ELIE BITAR, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).” Investigations have reportedly uncovered a series of transactions linking Bitar to the fraudulent operation, with several associates already arrested.

Bitar’s last known address is listed as Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos State.
The EFCC has urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to any of its zonal offices located in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja.
Earlier in April, the CBEX platform reportedly collapsed, wiping out over N1.3 trillion from investors’ wallets and leaving many Nigerians financially devastated.
