Electrocuted in Jigawa State: A suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with armored cables at the State Secretariat Complex in Dutse, Jigawa State.

The incident was confirmed in a statement by the spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, who revealed that the unidentified male’s lifeless body was discovered beneath a slab housing armored cable wiring on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

“At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Jigawa State Police Command received a distress call from the Ministry of Works regarding a tragic incident at the Jigawa State Secretariat New Complex, Dutse,” the statement read.

A team of officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Dutse Division, was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police discovered the body of an unidentified adult male beneath a slab containing high-voltage armored cable wiring.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the individual was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize the cables.

The body, which had already begun decomposing, was transported to Dutse General Hospital for medical evaluation.

The Command emphasized the grave dangers of tampering with public infrastructure, especially electrical systems.

It strongly condemned the act and issued a warning to the public about the serious risks and legal consequences of such actions.
