Drug Trafficking Arrest India

A Nigerian man has been apprehended in India for drug trafficking.

Drug Trafficking Arrest India: Jacob Nnabuike Ugwu, a Nigerian national, has been arrested in connection with the distribution of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) drugs throughout India.

The arrest was announced by the Indore Crime Branch in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, May 5, 2025. Ugwu was apprehended in Krishna Puri, Delhi, where he had been residing for the past two to three years while operating a refreshment shop as a front.

According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya, Ugwu’s arrest follows the earlier seizure of about 36 grams of MDMA, a Tata Altroz car, and mobile phones from two other suspects, Hariom Jha (26) and Lakshya Singh Rajput (26). The Nigerian national is suspected of orchestrating a nationwide drug trafficking network with the help of his associates.

Dandotiya further stated that Ugwu is originally from Enugu City, Nigeria. He confessed to living in Delhi for the past 2-3 years, where he ran a refreshment shop while supplying MDMA through his gang for the past year.

Still on Drug Trafficking Arrest India

Prior to Ugwu’s arrest, the Indore Crime Branch had received reliable intelligence about Jha and Rajput, who were suspected of supplying MDMA near the MR10 Bridge in a Tata Altroz car. Approximately 36 grams of MDMA, the car, and mobile phones were confiscated from them. A case (Crime Number 81/25, Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act) was registered against the accused.

While under police remand, the suspects disclosed that they had obtained the MDMA from Ugwu, a Nigerian supplier based in Delhi.

All three suspects have been charged under Sections 8 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Ugwu is currently in police custody for further questioning about his network and other possible accomplices.

Rajesh mentioned that additional arrests are anticipated as the investigation delves deeper into the broader network of suppliers and distributors connected to the accused.

The Indore Crime Branch is working closely with the Delhi Police and central agencies to trace the origins of the narcotics and the financial transactions behind the illegal operation.
