Cause of Pope’s passing: Italian media have revealed a possible cause for Pope Francis’ death.
According to La Repubblica and La Stampa, the Pope passed away from a “cerebral hemorrhage,” possibly caused by a stroke, which they claim was unrelated to the respiratory issues and pneumonia he suffered in February.
The Pope died on Easter Monday at the age of 88, after dedicating his entire life to serving God and the Church, as announced by the Vatican today.
His doctors reported that he “passed away peacefully,” as per Italian media sources.
In the days leading up to his death, Pope Francis had said he was “living it as best” as he could.
Despite his previous health problems and reduced mobility, partly due to his advancing age and weight gain, the pontiff had continued with a busy schedule until his final weeks.
In September 2024, he undertook a 12-day tour across Southeast Asia and Oceania, visiting Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Singapore.

When he was discharged from the hospital last month, his doctors advised at least two months of rest at his residence.
During his hospital stay, the Pope experienced “two very critical episodes” where his life was in danger, according to one of his doctors.
Nonetheless, he appeared determined not to remain confined to his rooms at the Casa Santa Maria.
He made surprise appearances after Masses and visited St. Peter’s Basilica, giving the faithful hope that his health was improving.
In the final week of his life, he appeared in public twice without the nasal cannula that had been providing him with oxygen.
Pope Francis, who had chronic lung disease and had part of one lung removed in his youth, was admitted to Gemelli hospital on February 14 for a respiratory crisis that led to double pneumonia.
He spent 38 days in the hospital, the longest stay of his 12-year papacy.
However, he emerged on Easter Sunday, just a day before his death, to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square.
