Kim Kardashian responds to convictions in Paris robbery case

Nearly ten years after Kim Kardashian was bound and held at gunpoint during a robbery in Paris, eight individuals have been convicted in connection with the incident — but none will return to prison.

The robbery took place during Paris Fashion Week in 2016, during which the reality star lost over \$9 million in jewelry, including a \$4 million engagement ring. She was gagged, zip-tied, and confined in a bathroom at a luxury residence.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the convicted group — nicknamed the “Grandpa Robbers” by French media due to many being in their 60s and 70s — received sentences ranging from 3 to 8 years, largely suspended due to age and health conditions.

Though the court recognized the severity of the crime, it determined that incarcerating the offenders again would be unethical given their medical conditions — one is undergoing chemotherapy, another suffers from Parkinson’s disease, and one required court documents to be displayed due to hearing impairment.

Only two of the ten defendants admitted guilt. Aomar Aït Khedache, 69, believed to be the mastermind, received an eight-year sentence, but due to time served and sentence suspension, he won’t serve additional prison time.

Kim, who was not present at Friday’s hearing, described the ordeal as “the most terrifying of my life.” Since then, she has increased her security measures and reduced real-time social media activity.

“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability,” she stated.
