Tinubu Makes Independent Decisions: Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is not influenced by any cabal or hidden group, stating that the president makes independent and informed decisions in the best interest of the nation.
Speaking on Thursday, May 22, in Abuja at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national summit themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” Idris noted that President Tinubu welcomes a range of perspectives but ultimately makes his own choices.
“You need to understand the president well. You can voice your opinion; he will listen, but the final decision is always his. It’s important to acknowledge that,” Idris said.
The minister highlighted that Tinubu took office during a critical period for Nigeria and promptly acted by eliminating petrol and foreign exchange subsidies, which had long burdened the nation’s economy and hindered development.
He also discussed the “Nigeria First” policy, which directs federal ministries, departments, and agencies to give preference to locally made goods, services, and expertise in public procurement. The goal of the policy, he explained, is to boost industrial growth, support domestic production, and protect the economy from global financial instability.
Still on Tinubu Makes Independent Decisions
Earlier at the summit, the Progressive Governors Forum officially endorsed President Tinubu as the APC’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement was announced by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, the forum’s chairman.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also spoke at the event, stating that Tinubu should not only be the APC’s candidate but also the preferred choice for the entire country in the upcoming election.
