Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette’s home was reportedly burgled while he was playing his final match before retirement.
The French forward was making his 391st and final appearance for Lyon, bringing his professional career to a close at the end of the current season.
However, the special occasion was reportedly marred by a burglary at his residence on Saturday night. According to French outlet *Le Progrès*, two intruders broke into his home and accessed a safe.
The stolen items are said to include jewellery, luxury leather goods, and cash, with the total value estimated to be in the tens of thousands of pounds.
The incident was reported at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday after surveillance footage showed two suspects, prompting local police to launch an investigation.
Lacazette, who spent five seasons with Arsenal, was playing for Lyon against Angers in a Ligue 1 fixture at the time of the break-in.
Earlier this week, Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca confirmed that Lacazette would leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The club legend was honored by supporters before the match, and he delivered a memorable performance by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Angers. The brace took his tally to over 200 goals for Lyon, where he began his career in the youth ranks.
This incident is not isolated; Lyon players have been targeted in the past, with Georges Mikautadze being robbed at gunpoint in December.
