FG launches new citizenship and business processing digital platform

The Ministry of Interior has introduced a new online platform designed to simplify the application and processing of citizenship and business-related services in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Saturday, May 17, Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, explained that the digital platform is part of ongoing reforms aimed at promoting transparency, boosting operational efficiency, and enhancing overall service delivery to the public. Ajani noted that the platform is expected to provide faster turnaround times and a smoother user experience. “Members of the public, corporate entities, and other stakeholders can access the platform through the following official channels: Ministry of Interior Website: interior.gov.ng; Direct Portal Access: candb.interior.gov.ng. Support or inquiries can be directed to candb-support@interior.gov.ng,” the statement said. “The Ministry of Interior remains committed to creating a more efficient, transparent, and secure framework for citizenship administration while continuously improving service delivery through digital transformation,” she added.

Recently, the ministry has launched other digital initiatives to modernize its operations. In February, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced plans for the federal government to implement digital landing and exit cards for visitors, to be completed before arriving in Nigeria.

He highlighted the importance of harmonizing the immigration data system and integrating it with national and international databases to enhance security and decision-making. Tunji-Ojo stated that this harmonization would ensure no approvals are granted without real-time clearance from Interpol, criminal records systems, and other background-checking agencies.
