According to a statement issued on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, the suspects were arrested by Safer Highway Operatives during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Awo-Ekiti/Igede-Ekiti road over the weekend. The trio, who were traveling in a commercial vehicle, claimed to be heading from Ondo State to Kwara State.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a cult group reportedly traveling to Kwara State for a criminal operation. Items recovered from them include a locally made pistol hidden in a towel, two live cartridges, three mobile phones, a power bank, a substance suspected to be a charm, and ₦155,000 in cash.
