Fubara Rejects Reinstatement Calls

“I do not wish to return there. My spirit has already departed from that place,” Governor Fubara responds to calls for his reinstatement.

Fubara Rejects Reinstatement Calls: The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that he is not desperate to return to office.

Fubara made this remark during the service of songs held in honor of the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Sunday, May 11. The event was organized by the Rivers Elders Forum, and several speakers criticized his suspension and called for an immediate reversal, referring to him as “Governor.”

However, Fubara distanced himself from these comments, describing them as personal opinions. He noted that such remarks were unlikely to foster peace.

“Not everything is by oshogbe,” he remarked, suggesting his preference for a more strategic and less confrontational approach to the ongoing political situation.

“Don’t you see how better I look? Do you think I am interested again? If I have my way, I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit has already left there,” he added.

Fubara further cautioned that some actions taken by his supporters, though well-intended, had only exacerbated his situation. He urged those present to focus on honoring Edwin Clark, who dedicated his life to advocating for the Niger Delta region, rather than making the event about politics.

President Tinubu had suspended Gov. Fubara, his deputy, and the entire State House of Assembly on March 18 for six months due to the political crisis between Fubara and his godfather, former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Saraki appointed to lead PDP reconciliation committee ahead of upcoming NEC meeting.
