EFCC apprehends six Nigerians and two Chinese nationals for unlawful mining activities in Ogun.

Nigerians And Chinese Arrested: Operatives from the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), based in Ikoyi, have arrested two Chinese nationals and six Nigerians over their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in the Ogere area of Ogun State.

According to Dele Oyewale, the arrests were made during a sting operation carried out on Friday, May 9, 2025.

The individuals apprehended have been identified as Zhang Hang Lin, Gao Pei Hai, Matthew Mathias, Oluwaseun Amoo, Wasiu Ademola Alao, Ajibola Nurudeen, Ibrahim Yinusa, and Saidu Shuaibu. Confiscated items include three trucks filled with sacks containing substances believed to be ground lithium powder. Other seized materials comprise unidentified solid minerals, a Toyota 4Runner SUV, mobile phones, samples of suspected low-grade lithium, ATM cards, international passports, four LED flashlights, and various other items.

A Nigerian man has been apprehended in India for drug trafficking.
