Child Sold For N100,000: A 2-year-old girl, identified as Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025, has been rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The rescue operation was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command on May 8, 2025.
According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, May 9, the suspected trafficker was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia and subsequently handed over to NAPTIP.
The suspect is alleged to have collaborated with three trafficking syndicates based in Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for N100,000.
NAPTIP is now seeking public assistance to locate and reunite the child with her biological parents.
“Investigations are still ongoing. NAPTIP is urging the biological parents or any relatives of the child to urgently get in touch with the Agency,” the statement said.
