Nationwide Help For Veterans: Veterans across the UK will soon have easier access to essential care and support thanks to the government’s new VALOUR system. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to renew the nation’s contract with those who have served through the Plan for Change. With £50 million in funding, VALOUR will establish a network of support centers across the UK, deploying Regional Field Officers to connect local, regional, and national services. These officers will harness the power of data to shape better services, ensuring veterans receive the right support at the local level.
Key Features of VALOUR:
– Network of Support Centers: VALOUR-recognised support centers will be established across the UK, providing tailored support services to veterans in every corner of the country.
– Regional Field Officers: These officers will work with local services, including local government bodies, to share best practices and guidance, applying the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.
– Data-Driven Approach: VALOUR will utilize data to shape better service provision, ensuring resources are channeled to where they’re most needed and can make the greatest difference.
The Ministry of Defence will invite veterans to help design VALOUR through research, focus groups, and feedback. Initially, VALOUR will focus on veterans, but the service is designed to be scaled up to support the wider Armed Forces community in the future.

Defence Secretary John Healey MP emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting veterans, stating, “The nation owes a duty to those who’ve served to defend our country, and it is only right that the Government steps up our support to them.” He highlighted that the Armed Forces set most people up for success in life, but when veterans need help, support is often fragmented. The government aims to address this issue through VALOUR.
