Discussions To Join APC: Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has revealed that some associates of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, are in talks to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on TVC on Monday, May 6, Bwala claimed that one of Obi’s top aides has already defected to the APC, while another is currently in negotiations with party leadership. He also mentioned that a media aide to Obi has shown interest in switching allegiance to the ruling party.
Still on Discussions To Join APC
“Governors are joining our party independently, but what’s more significant is that key figures from the last presidential election are also coming in,” Bwala stated. “For example, one of Peter Obi’s handlers is already with us, and another is currently in discussions. Even one of his media spokesmen is considering it.”
Bwala emphasized that these moves are not financially motivated, but rather driven by confidence in the Tinubu administration’s direction.
“No one is giving them money. They’re coming because, while we’re not perfect, they see that our heart is in the right place, our head is clear, and we are working to build a national consensus,” he added.
