Police Arrest Ambulance Fraudsters: Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have apprehended two individuals for impersonating officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and deceiving unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspects, Nuche Joseph, 34, and Lawal Rofiat, 29, were arrested by RRS officers on April 29, 2025, while posing as LASAMBUS officials.

Working with BrainGrace Ambulance Service, the suspects had been impersonating Lagos Ambulance Service staff and extorting money from accident victims for pre-hospital care, which is supposed to be free in the state.
Their fraudulent activities were exposed on social media by the relatives of an accident victim who was coerced into paying N150,000 for pre-hospital care. Unfortunately, the victim passed away before reaching the hospital.
Upon realizing that the service was meant to be provided free of charge by the Lagos State Government, the victim’s family felt exploited and took to social media, mistakenly accusing LASAMBUS officials of defrauding them.
The suspects have confessed to their crimes and have been charged in court.
