Super Eagles defender transfer: Nigeria international defender Semi Ajayi is expected to depart West Bromwich Albion at the conclusion of the current season. Ajayi’s contract with the Championship club is set to expire this summer, and reports suggest the club is ready to allow him to leave on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old joined West Brom from Rotherham United in 2019, initially signing a four-year contract, which he later extended in May 2022.

During his time with the Baggies, Ajayi made 169 league appearances and scored 12 goals. A product of the Arsenal Academy, he has been a reliable figure in the team’s defense.
Ajayi has also had a successful international career, representing Nigeria in both the 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, playing a key role in the Super Eagles’ run to the final in Côte d’Ivoire earlier this year.
